Chamoli district administration intensifies forest fire preparedness ahead of summer season

Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar chaired a meeting with relevant departments in the district auditorium to prevent potential forest fires during the summer season. Preparations for the fire mock drill to be held on Wednesday were reviewed. Divisional Forest Officer, Badrinath Forest Division, Sarvesh Kumar Dubey, stated that a staging area would be set up at Police Lines, Gopeshwar. All concerned departments were instructed to ensure their personnel are present at Police Lines, Gopeshwar, by 9:30 a.m. Afterward, drills will be conducted at forest fire-prone locations, including one in Chamoli and two in Gopeshwar.

During the meeting, the District Magistrate directed Disaster Management Officer Nandkishore Joshi to compile a list of major companies operating in the district, such as THDC, UJVN, NTPC, and JP, and ensure that they have up-to-date firefighting equipment.
