One nation one election bill tabled in Lok Sabha

The One Nation One Election Bill has been introduced in the Lok Sabha. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced this bill in the Lok Sabha. The bill has been opposed by many parties including Congress, TMC, SP. SP MP Dharmendra Yadav said that ‘what is the need to bring this bill?. This is an attempt to impose dictatorship in a way’. However, BJP has the support of its important ally Janata Dal United. Today once again JDU leader Sanjay Kumar Jha said that this bill is necessary. He said that ‘we have always been saying that the assembly and Lok Sabha elections should be held simultaneously. Panchayat elections should be held separately.’
‘When elections started in this country, elections used to be held simultaneously. This is not a new thing. Separate elections started in 1967, when Congress imposed President’s rule in many states and governments started being dismissed. The government is always in election mode. It involves huge expenditure.’ Congress said that this bill is against the federal structure and is an attack on the soul of the Constitution. The opposition said that due to this many governments will have to be removed and assemblies will be dissolved. This will also be against federalism.
Akhilesh Yadav also opposed it and said that the feeling of ‘one’ will lead to dictatorship. He said that this will lead to dictatorship in the country and will close the way for federal democracy. Dharmendra Yadav said that just last week vows were taken in this house to save the constitution and today a bill of one country one election has been brought, which is against the basic spirit. Congress leader Manish Tiwari said that if majority is not obtained in the Lok Sabha elections, will there be elections for the whole country. He said that in the event of such a rule, a large number of assemblies will have to be dissolved and governments will have to be dismissed.
Amit Shah also intervened during the debate. He said that Congress knows only opposition as the meaning of debate. If something is in the interest of the country, then it can also be supported. Many parties including Apna Dal, Akali Dal, Janata Dal United have supported one country one election. Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party has also supported the bill.
