Chardham Yatra 2025 sees 4.35 lakh more devotees than last year
With the closure of the Badrinath temple, the doors of all four shrines have been closed for the winter season, i.e., for six months. Despite natural disasters, the Char Dham Yatra 2025 has set a new record this year. 4.35 lakh more devotees participated in the pilgrimage this year compared to last year.
16,60,224 pilgrims visited Badrinath, 7,57,100 pilgrims visited Gangotri, and 6,44,505 pilgrims visited Yamunotri. For the first time, the number of pilgrims at Hemkund Sahib reached 2,74,441. Previously, 1,64,546 pilgrims visited Hemkund Sahib in 2023, and 1,85,972 pilgrims visited in 2024.
Preparations shift towards Winter Yatra
With the closure of the doors at Badrinath, preparations for the winter pilgrimage have intensified. The worship of Lord Badri Vishal will now take place at the winter residence of Pandukeshwar and the Narsingh Temple in Jyotirmath. While the winter worship of Baba Kedarnath will take place at Omkareshwar Temple Ukhimath, the worship of Goddess Ganga (Gangotri) will take place at Mukhba and the worship of Goddess Yamuna (Yamunotri) will take place at Kharsali. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while emphasizing on further strengthening the winter travel arrangements, has directed the officials to strengthen the accommodation, transportation and security arrangements at the winter residences of the four Dhams and all other major tourist destinations.
