Green Card for Chardham Yatra 2023 to be made from April 1; know guidelines
The Transport Department has made green card mandatory for commercial vehicles going on Chardham Yatra. Travel will not be possible without a green card. Green cards will start being made in the Transport Department’s office from April 1. For this, these vehicles will have to undergo a long fitness test at the RTO office. Commercial vehicles will get green card only after passing this test.
RTO enforcement Shailesh Tiwari said that this green card is valid for the entire duration of Chardham Yatra. To get a green card, the vehicle has to be taken to the RTO office. All vehicle papers, RC, fitness certificate, insurance certificate, pollution control certificate, permit, vehicle tax deposit certificate, driver’s license are checked here.
Compulsory to keep these items in vehicles
After this it is tested whether the concerned vehicle is suitable for Chardham Yatra or not. The vehicle is technically tested for travel on mountain routes. Vehicle’s lights, dipper, wiper, brakes, steering, tires etc. are checked. It is mandatory to have first aid kit, wooden or iron block and fire extinguisher in the vehicle.
After passing all the tests, the commercial vehicle owner is given a green card after applying by visiting the greencard.uk.gov.in website. After this card, the vehicle owner has to take a trip card for every trip. This trip card can also be obtained online from the link given on the website of the Department of Transport greencard.uk.gov.in.
Transport department guide lines:
- Must obtain trip card for each round trip.
- According to the standard, red, white and yellow reflector tapes must be installed in the vehicle.
- To help on mountain routes, keep torch, rope, puncture kit, air pump, snow chain in the vehicle.
- It is mandatory to have a dustbin in the vehicle.
- Keep the vomiting bag also as necessary.
