Indira Amma Bhojanalay in every district from Nov 19 onwards

All preparations in this regard had been completed and efforts were underway to ensure that Indira Amma canteens become operational in all districts from November 19, Principal Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies, Radha Raturi said. On an average, 900 persons eat per day at Indira Amma Bhojanalay in Dehradun where locally produced food items are being given preference.

Raturi also visited one such canteen at the MDDA complex here to inspect the quality of food being served at the facility and its hygiene levels.

Accompanied by Principal Secretary, Rural Development, Manisha Panwar, Raturi asked women self-help group representatives running the canteen to buy vegetables and other food items for the facility from local self-help groups (SHGs) and maintain the standards of hygiene.
