GMVN to refund pilgrims who had booked heli services to Kedarnath

After the Chardham Yatra, which was postponed this year due to the rising cases of Covid-19, the Uttarakhand government has now started the process of returning the funds to the pilgrims who had booked the helicopter service in advance for visiting the Kedarnath temple. Managing Director of the state government undertaking Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), Dr. Ashish Chauhan has written a letter to the concerned bank asking them to return the money to the pilgrims who had already paid heli service for Kedarnath Dham. The shrines of Kedarnath, the shrine of Lord Shiva located in the higher Himalayan region in Rudraprayag district, are opening on 17 May for which advance booking of helicopter service tickets was started from April 2 through the corporation’s website.

 

In the letter, the bank has been told that the Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has postponed the Chardham Yatra this year with a view to stop the spread of Covid-19 and due to this the cancellation of advance booking of heli service by pilgrims to Kedarnath The entire amount should be returned to the passengers, excluding the processing fee of Rs 200 per passenger. The doors of the world famous Kedarnath Dham will be opened for devotees on May 17.
