Uttarakhand Forest Guard Recruitment: Future of 25 thousand candidates hangs in limbo

About 25 thousand youths who had applied forĀ forest guard recruitment in Uttarakhand are in a state of confusion over results. These youth who had applied online are waiting for recruitment to be started. The Forest Minister had postponed the recruitment process in September due to changes in recruitment procedure.

For recruitment of Forest Guard of 1218 posts in Uttarakhand, Subordinate Service Selection Commission had issued a release in August. From eight September to 20 September, candidates had to apply online for this. Nearly 25 thousand youth applied online, but after controversy over the standards of academic qualification and age limit, Forest Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat postponed the recruitment process. In order to change the recruitment standards, the Forest Department has sent the file to the governance, telling the modification of the service rules. However, even after five months, neither any initiative has been taken to change the recruitment rules nor can the recruitment process be restarted. In this way the future of thousands of youth who have applied for the job is shrouded in mystery.

Controversy surrounding Uttarakhand Forest Guard Recruitment

The educational qualification of the Forest Guard is the most controversial issue. It is being argued that fewer young people are able take science in their intermediate exams due to lack of facilities in the hills. Therefore, the commerce and arts students should get some leniency. Also, the maximum age limit should be increased from 24 to 42 years.
