Government suspends Jal Nigam Engineer caught taking Rs 9 lakh bribe

Uttarakhand government has decided to suspend Imran Ahmed, Executive Engineer, Jal Nigam, Dehradun branch following sting operation reported in media in which the said officer was seen demanding Rs. Nine lakh as bribe for the construction of STP plant at Mothorowala. The state administration has also taken congnizance of the media reports stating that the overhead tank built at the residence of Uttarakhand water Resources Minister had five holes and found the said engineer prima facie guilty.

As per the administrative order, Imran Ahmed, Executive Engineer, has been found guilty of corruption and negligence of duty and has been suspended. An inquiry has been ordered into his conduct and he would be given stern punishment if found guilty. The order said that during his suspension period he would be attached with the office of Chief Engineer Jal Sansthan.
