Trump led US government expels 60 Russian diplomats
The Trump administration expelled 60 Russian diplomats on Monday and ordered Russia’s consulate in Seattle to close, as the United States and European nations sought to jointly punish Moscow for its alleged role in poisoning an ex-spy in Britain.
Senior Trump administration officials said all 60 Russians were spies working in the US under diplomatic cover, including a dozen at Russia’s mission to the United Nations. The officials said the administration was taking the action to send a message to Russia’s leaders about the ‘unacceptably high’ number of Russian intelligence operatives in the US.
Five European countries Germany, Poland, France. Ukraine and Latvia have also shown Russian diplomats the way out. In this case, other European countries have also spoken of action on Russian diplomats. It is noteworthy that the leaders of the European Union had agreed last week that Russia was behind the attack by former Russian spy Sergei Scripple and his daughter Yulia on a nerve agent.
Earlier, Russian President Putin had dismissed the accusations of Britain and its allies as absurd, that Russian citizens Scripal (66) and his daughter, Yulia (33) were behind the chemical attack in Charleston, UK on March 4.
