49th All India Police Science Congress held in Doon

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami while welcoming Union Cooperative Home Minister Amit Shah at FRI Dehradun said that Uttarakhand got the opportunity to host the 49th All India Police Science Congress, it is a matter of pride for the state. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the target of making India a developed nation in the next 25 years. For which it is necessary to progress in every field. Therefore, such events become even more important for developing the capacity of police forces. In the present scenario, crime and criminals have gone far beyond the traditional systems, organized crimes are increasing and in the cases of cyber crimes, modern technology like Artificial Intelligence is also being used by the criminals. The police force needs to be equipped with advanced technology and efficient means along with technical and mental efficiency. For this, special assistance is being provided to the state governments by the Central Government under the leadership of the Home Minister.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that in this Police Congress, through extensive deliberations and meaningful discussions, apart from policing and internal security, important suggestions will be presented for cyber security and prevention of data theft. He said that Uttarakhand Police has laid emphasis on e-facility for reporting cyber crime, speedy disposal of cases and has also alerted the public through public awareness campaigns. Uttarakhand Police has launched various applications, through which effective policing has been ensured. Operation Mukti has identified children forced to beg, collect garbage and do other menial jobs and enrolled them in schools. The campaign’s motto ‘Educate, not alms’ has been given meaning.

The Chief Minister said that in the last meeting, the Union Home Minister had called for the formulation of a national internal security policy while calling for an attack on terrorism. Today, under his leadership, terrorism is being eliminated in the country. On this occasion, the Chief Minister suggested that the forest personnel engaged in the protection of forests also need to be trained to use modern weapons and like paramilitary forces. He said that the police will have to be equipped with more modern resources to protect the border areas. The Chief Minister expressed hope that necessary new technologies will also be discussed in this Congress. He said that there is a need to engage the enlightened section of the society from time to time and exchange suggestions for protecting national interests. Under this, through the Community Outreach Programme, an effort has been made to identify voluntary organizations working for national interests in the international border areas and seek their cooperation, in which we are getting success.
