3.8 magnitude earthquake jolts Dehradun

Earthquake tremors were felt in Dehradun, Uttarakhand on Tuesday afternoon. According to news agency ANI, the tremors of the earthquake were felt at around 1:42 pm. The magnitude of the earthquake was 3.8. However, no loss of life or property has been reported from anywhere.

Earlier on July 24, tremors of earthquake were felt in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 3.4 on the Richter scale. According to the National Center for Seismology, the center was at a depth of 10 kilometers underground. Uttarakhand is very sensitive in terms of earthquakes and comes in earthquake zone 5.

IIT Roorkee created Uttarakhand Earthquake Alert App

A team of scientists from IIT Roorkee has created the Uttarakhand Earthquake Alert App, which will alert when an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 occurs. At present, 71 sirens and 165 sensors have been installed for earthquake in Uttarakhand. For the first time in the country, such a mobile app has been made in Uttarakhand, which will not only give warning 20 seconds before the earthquake, but will also tell the location of the people trapped after the earthquake. Uttarakhand Earthquake Alert App has been created by the team of Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, Government of Uttarakhand and IIT Roorkee. IIT Roorkee was working on this for the last four years. Anyone can register by downloading the Uttarakhand Earthquake Alert App on mobile. It has been designed in such a way that the loss of life and property due to earthquake will be minimized.
