Audi CEO arrested in Germany
German car company Audi CEO Rupert Stadler has been arrested by the police in Berlin. Stadler’s arrest has been done in connection with the scam in the pollution test system of diesel cars. A spokesman for Audi’s parent company, Volkswagen, has said that Stadler’s arrest took place on Monday and he taken in remand for questioning after presenting in the court.
Last year, the parent company Volkswagen was found guilty of using the software to hide the pollution level of its diesel vehicles, while the new case of fraud is now found in its Audi car.
Audi’s CEO Rupert Stadler last month believed that the software used to hide pollution levels in 60,000 cars of the Audi A6 and A7 models. Although these 60,000 vehicles are different from the 8 lakh 50 thousand vehicles which the company had recollected for a change in pollution software during 2017.
Significantly, the disclosure of hiding pollution by changing the software of diesel vehicles was first reported in September 2015. After that, during the long legal process, it is believed that they have tried to hide pollution levels with the help of software in its 6 million Volkswagen cars.
After this, the head of Volkswagen, while apologizing to the whole world, believed that his company tried to pass the pollution test by tampering with the software of more than 10 million cars in the world. According to experts, the use of software by the company is shows upto 40 times reduced pollution levels.
