3 day mourning in Uttarakhand over FM Prakash Pant’s death

Uttarakhand’s Finance Minister Prakash Pant (58 years) passed away yesterday. He had been running ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment in a US hospital. Many leaders, including PM Modi, Governor Baby Rani Maurya and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, expressed deep sorrow over his demise. In a tweet the Chief Minister said that “the death of Prakash Pant is indispensable to me personally. His death has left us with three decades old memories.”

Uttarakhand’s parliamentary affairs and finance minister Prakash Pant, who has influenced everyone with his behavior and knowledge, is no longer among us. He is survived by his wife, son and two daughters. He was running ill for the past few months. He was taken to America from Delhi for treatment a few days ago. Where he died on Wednesday evening. The news of his death spread grief throughout the state. On the demise of Pant, the government has declared a three-day state mourning along with a keeping all government and semi-government offices closed in the state on Thursday, June 6. During this time, the flag will remain at half mast in all the offices. His funeral will be done with full state honor. Although his body is being projected to take four to five days to return to the state.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prakash Pant had been battling an unknown disease for a long time. While presenting the budget speech during the budget session in February this year, he had become ill twice. The first thing that happened to him was that he got sick. After this, he started treatment in Dehradun and there was talk of cancer. He was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Center in New Delhi. After a few days of treatment, his health improved and he came to Dehradun. After a few days, he was taken to Delhi again after suffering a stroke. On May 29, he went to Texas, USA for treatment. The news of Pant’s demise is a wave of mourning throughout the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Baby Rani Maurya, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Assembly Speaker Premchand Agarwal have expressed condolences over his demise. The government has declared a three-day state mourning.
