United Nations faces financial crisis

United Nations the organization established to prevent another major war across the world is facing trouble itself. In times of trouble, the United Nations has always been playing a leading role in various countries in various ways. Apart from this, the responsibility of sending UN peacekeeping forces to various countries in the face of violence is also a big task. From Syria to many countries of Africa, the United Nations appears in many different roles. But if such a large institution appears to be struggling with the financial crisis, then it is definitely surprising. But this is true.UN Secretary-General António Guterres himself has said this to all its members.
The Secretary-General has urged the member states to pay the compulsory donation amount and on time. He also wrote a letter to member countries mentioning the poor economic conditions of the United Nations. In this, he has written that, “In the regular budget, we are facing cash crisis like never before due to non payment of donation amount by member nations. Guterres also said that, our funding has never been so low so soon as in current financial year.
India is a member of the United Nations Organization. Apart from this, India had also played a significant role in its establishment. As far as India’s payment is concerned, till July 26, not only India but UN’s 112 member countries had made full payment of their regular budget dues. India had paid 1.79 million dollars (about 123 crore rupees) on January 29 this year. At the end of June this year, the amount paid to the 2008 assessments by the member countries was about $ 1.49 billion (about Rs 10,238 crore).
