Fate of 4978 candidates to be decided by the people on Nov 18

Local Body election in Uttarakhand on November 18

Of the 92 municipalities & municipal corporations in the state, polling will be held for 84 of them on Sunday, November 18. All preparations have been completed for this. According to the State Election Commission, all polling parties have taken their places in the voting places. Voting starts from 8 am on Sunday morning in 1257 polling stations. The fate of 4978 candidates who have contested for 1148 posts of Municipal Chief and Councilor member in the election will be decided by 2353943 voters. In view of the free and fair elections, adequate security arrangements have been made in all polling stations and places. Border areas of Uttarakhand have been sealed.

Municipal corporation Roorkee and municipality corporation in Srinagar and Bajpur have been kept separate from the current election process due to various pending works. There are no elections in Badrinath, Gangotri and Kedarnath Bodies, while there is a legal scandal in case of Selakui and Bhatrojkhan. The notification for the remaining 84 bodies was issued on October 15, and the fate of the candidates, who are contesting the elections on Sunday, will be decided in the ballot boxes.
According to state election commissioner Chandrashekhar Bhatt, all preparations for voting have been completed. Polling parties have reached their destination. He told that the poll will run from 8 am to 5 pm on Sunday. In view of independent and fair elections, necessary instructions were given to the observers, zonal and sector magistrates, along with the District Election Officers. Security arrangements have been made in polling stations and places. Special instructions have been given especially on sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations and voting sites. Videography of polling stations and places will also be done. Video cameras have been provided to observers, zonal and sector magistrates for this.

After the polling ends, the voters will deposit ballot boxes and the material in the laid down room. This series will be completed by late night. Voting workers will be deemed free from duty only after submission of polling material.

Strong Rooms and Counting Sites to be under camera surveillance

The State Election Commission has instructed the Strong Room (where ballots are to be kept) and to install cameras at the counting places so that transparency persists. After the polling ends on Sunday, the ballot box will be placed in the scheduled Strong Room. Counting will take place on November 20.

Results to be declared on November 20

The commission claims that after the start of counting on 20th November, all the results are likely to come out till late night on the sameday. According to the commission, the number of counting tables has been increased according to the number of wards in the municipalities. It is expected to get the result late in the night.
