NGT bans idol immersion in Ganga in Haridwar

Now devotees will not be able to immerse idols in the Ganges in Haridwar. The Municipal Corporation has taken this decision on the orders of the NGT. For immersion of idols in Ganga in Haridwar, legal action will be taken along with levying environment fee of Rs 50,000. NGT has banned idol immersion etc. in other rivers including Ganga for environmental reasons.

In this sequence, on the orders of the DM, the Municipal Corporation has prepared three places for idol immersion. Now idols will have to be immersed in these kunds. Apart from Ganesh Chaturthi, idols are immersed on a large scale in the Ganges on the occasion of Nav Durga Mahotsav. According to Municipal Commissioner Dayanand Saraswati, arrangements have been made for idol immersion near VIP Ghat along with Bairagi Camp and Kankhal.

Apart from these places, you will not be able to immerse in other places. If any person is found immersing the idol in the Ganges, apart from these places, then taking action under the order of the National Green Tribunal, an environment fee of Rs 50,000 will be levied. Along with this, legal action will also be implemented.

Places have been marked for idol immersion. There is a system of immersion at these places. Action will be taken on immersion at other places.
