California rocked by most powerful earthquake in last 20 years
An earthquake of 6.4 magnitude was felt on Thursday morning in Southern California. The US Geological Survey said that officials have warned that more shocks may occur in the day.
The shocks were felt in the desert area just 10 kilometers away from the Searles Valley in San Bernardino County, at 3.30 pm local time. The impact was felt 160 miles away in Los Angeles and even in neighboring Nevada’s Las Vegas.
This is the second most powerful blow to California after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred in California in 1999. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump tweeted that everything is under control.
He wrote, “We got complete information on the earthquake in southern California. Everything is under control.” Fire brigade department of San Bernardino County said that buildings and roads have been damaged.
An official at China Lake told that “their infrastructure” has suffered a lot , which includes fire, leakage of water and leakage of hazardous substances. The Los Angeles International Airport reported that the operations of the flights are as normal.
