The Ministry of Defense has given the green signal to install Doppler radar in Lansdowne army cantonment area of Uttarakhand. Rajya Sabha MP and BJP’s national media head Anil Baluni was making constant efforts in this regard from the Ministry of Defense. The Ministry of Defense has given a No Objection (NOC) for the installation of radar.

Baluni shared this information on social media. He informed that three proposed Doppler radars are to be installed in Uttarakhand. Work is on at Surkanda (Tehri) and Mukteswar (Nainital). But the Doppler radar forecasting weather forecast for Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pauri region which was to be installed in Lansdowne (Pauri) area was long overdue.

He said that the Ministry of Earth Sciences had selected Lansdowne, the most effective location army cantonment for the installation of Doppler radar. But the installation of Doppler radar was delayed due to Army regulations, protocols and safety standards.

In this regard, he was in constant dialogue with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and officials of the Ministry. The Ministry of Defense has issued a no-objection letter stating that the land has been provided on lease to the Indian Meteorological Department. Doppler radar will soon be installed at the said location. MP Baluni thanked Defense Minister Rajnath Singh for this cooperation.

Information about seasonal changes in the area up to 400 km can be obtained from the Doppler Weather Radar. This radar also catches extreme waves using the Doppler effect. This radar easily recognizes the direction of when extreme waves collide with any object and return.
