Congress MLA from Purola joins BJP
Before the assembly elections-2022 in Uttarakhand, the BJP has broken into the Congress. Congress MLA from Purola Rajkumar has joined BJP in a program organized in New Delhi on Sunday. Rajkumar took the membership of the party in the presence of a large number of party workers including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, BJP State President Madan Kaushik.
Rajkumar became an MLA from Sahaspur seat in 2007 on a BJP ticket. Contested as an independent in 2012 but had to face defeat. In that election, BJP candidate Malchand defeated Rajkumar and he came second. But, in the 2017 assembly elections, Rajkumar reached the assembly after winning the Purola seat on a Congress ticket. Before this, Uttarakhand leader and Dhanaulti MLA Pritam Panwar has also joined BJP.
If sources are to be believed, the MLA had also put a condition in front of the BJP central leadership to give a ticket from a seat in Dehradun. But, the final decision will have to be taken by the party high command, Rajkumar had to take the membership of BJP on Saturday itself, but due to some reason he could not join.
