People bid tearful adieu to soldier martyred in Nagaland violence

Hundreds of people gathered in the last farewell of martyr soldier Gautam Lal, resident of Nausila Tok, Village Panchayat Nauli in Tehri district. He was given farewell with military honors at the ancestral Ghat Lakshmoli. On this occasion, the officials of the regional public representatives, army, district administration and police gave him the last salute. The cousinsof martyr Gautam lit fire to the pyre. Earlier, in the last journey of the martyr, people paid homage by showering flowers at different places.

The mortal remains of Gautam, who was martyred for the country at the age of 24, reached the village at around 10.30 am on Tuesday. As soon as they landed, the youth foundation and the local people started raising slogansĀ  for the martyred soldier. After this, the army personnel reached the house with the mortal remains.

A convoy of vehicles joined the journey while coming to Laxmoli Ghat, located about 16 km from the village. Colonel Devraj Chadha handed over the tricolor wrapped around the mortal remains of the martyr to his father Ramesh at the ghat on the banks of the Alaknanda river. After this, a salute was given by firing three rounds from the army.

Regional MLA Vinod Kandari said that he would demand from the Chief Minister to rename the primary health center Hinsriyakhal near the martyr’s village as Shaheed Gautam Hospital. The MLA said that 24-year-old youth Gautam has sacrificed his life in the defense of the country. The entire region is proud of his martyrdom. He said that at present the hospital building is being constructed at Hisriyakhal, some distance from Nausila Tok in Nauli. It will be started soon.
