Fully vaccinated students to be allowed in IIT Roorkee campus
As the third wave of Covid has slowed down, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has removed many restrictions imposed on the arrival of students in the campus during the Corona period. Now any such student who has applied both the doses of vaccine for protection from corona and it has been 15 days since the student has applied the second dose, then they can come to the campus. At the same time, teachers can take online classes as well as offline classes of students already present in the campus following the Covid guidelines. The institute have named this ‘hybrid class’. Apart from this, laboratories in the institute have also been opened for the students as before.
The lockdown was imposed for the first time across the country on 24 March 2020 due to the Corona pandemic. Even before this, IIT Roorkee had postponed the offline classes when the cases of corona started coming to the fore in the country. Whereas from March 24, offline classes were completely closed. Since then, online classes are being conducted by the institute, but now due to the reduction in the cases of Covid across the country in the wave of Corona, the institute has removed many restrictions. Earlier, students were being allowed to enter the campus only on priority basis.
Apart from this, the students coming to the campus were being quarantined for a stipulated period and it was mandatory for them to bring the RTPCR report along with them, but now these compulsions have been removed. Dean of Student Welfare, IIT Roorkee said that now the students of BTech, MTech, PhD who have taken both the doses for protection from corona and it has been 15 days after applying the second dose, then they can come to the campus. He said that after the removal of many restrictions by the institute, the number of students coming to the campus is increasing. Presently there are about 4,600 students on the campus. At the same time, the total number of students studying in the institute is 8,200.
