Surkanda Devi ropeway becomes operational
Darshan of Siddhpeeth Surkanda Devi Temple located in Tehri will now be easy. The journey of the devotees coming here is going to be exciting, because now they can reach the temple through ropeway.
Ropeway services start for Surkanda Devi temple
Ropeway service has been started for Surkanda Devi temple. On the first day, about 240 devotees traveled by ropeway and visited the temple. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the devotees regarding the ropeway service. The fare for the ropeway to and from the temple has been fixed at Rs 177. In order to reach the temple of Surkanda Devi, people had to first trek one and a half km from Kaddukhal to the temple. Now this problem is gone. People will reach the temple in just five to ten minutes in the 523 meter long ropeway. After waiting for several days, the ropeway was started on Thursday. 16 cable cars have been installed in the ropeway constructed at a cost of Rs 32 crore. Six people can travel in a coach. In this way 96 people can travel simultaneously at a time.
In the year 2015-16, approval was given to build ropeway for Surkanda Devi temple in PPP mode. In 2017, the partnership company started the construction of the ropeway. After years of waiting, the ropeway service has been started for the devotees. The nearest airport to reach Surkanda Devi Temple in Uttarakhand is Jolly Grant. The nearest railway station is at Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun. From Dehradun via Mussoorie, a distance of 73 km has to be covered, while from Rishikesh via Chamba, a distance of 82 km needs to be covered. SDM Dhanaulti Laxmiraj Chauhan said that the devotees are happy with the start of the ropeway. Its fare has also been kept only 177 rupees. Unofficial launch of Surkanda Devi Ropeway has been done after all technical checks.
