Lakhs take dip in Haridwar on Somvati Amavasya 2022

Since the early hours of Monday, there has been an influx of devotees at the Ganga Ghats of Haridwar. Thousands of people take a holy dip in the Ganges here on Somvati Amavasya. Along with bathing and worship, people are doing charity. At the same time, in view of the huge crowd of devotees, the police administration is also ready. More than 22 lakh devotees took bath at various ghats in Haridwar till 10 am.

On Sunday before the Somvati Amavasya bath, the GRP and RPF team along with the Bomb Disposal Squad and Dog Squad conducted a checking campaign in the railway station premises, platforms and trains. Along with this, the suspects were also questioned. A large number of devotees had reached Haridwar on Sunday by trains for the Somvati Amavasya bath.

In view of the security, GRP station in-charge Anuj Singh and RPF in-charge DS Chauhan along with dog squad and bomb disposal squad conducted a checking operation. Checking was done at railway station premises, reservation rooms, passenger waiting rooms, platforms. Along with this, the luggage of the passengers was also searched. Regarding the Somvati Amavasya bath, the district administration has divided the fair area into five super, 16 zones and 39 sectors from the point of view of security and order.

For the Somvati Amavasya bath, there was a rush of vehicles on the highway from different states. The vehicles were diverted via Laksar without sending them directly from Mangalore bypass to Haridwar, but due to the construction of the gate on this route and the construction work on the way, there was a long jam at many places.
