Leopard attack in Dehradun: Forest Department Issues Warning, Urges Caution in Outdoor Activities

The Forest Department has issued an alert after the attack of a leopard on a child in Canal road area of Dehradun. Ranger said that people should not allow children to play in the park after 4 pm. Also, it is advised not to go for a walk in the morning and evening when it is dark. People who have dogs in their homes in the society should be careful. People should not walk dogs in the society grounds in the evening.

There is panic among the people after the frequent sightings and news of attack by leopard (Guldar). As per reports yesterday’s attack took place in a ravine located some distance from the Main Canal Road. The leopard attacked a 12 year old boy near a bonfire. Whereas six-seven people were present there. Luckily, they were able to rescue the boy from the jaws of death. About two hundred meters away, many children were playing as usual.

After the information, the forest department teams started searching for the animal. The ranger told that Guldar has been seen there before also. Wild boar and deer also come here. Guldar must have also come there in search of prey.  A cage has been installed to catch the leopard. Besides, QRT has also been deployed on patrol.
