First phase of census in Uttarakhand to begin from May 1
The first phase of census 2021 will begin in the state from May 1. It will include house listing, counting of houses and National Population Register. 30 thousand personnel and six thousand supervisors will be engaged for the calculation.
A meeting of the coordination committee for census work was held at the Secretariat on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh. The meeting was attended by the Indian Registrar and Census Commissioner Vivek Joshi through video conferencing.
Census Director Uttarakhand Vimmi Sachdeva Raman presented a detailed action plan. The Chief Secretary directed the Education Director to deploy the personnel required for this task on time. Census personnel will be trained in the month of April.
Instructions given to Information and Public Relations Department
The Census Director informed that the CMMS portal has been developed for managing and monitoring the census work during the census. The data will also be compiled through the mobile app to promote Digital India. The Director also requested publicity for the census work. The Chief Secretary directed the Information and Public Relations Department in this regard.
It was discussed in the meeting that a copy of the notification related to the area delimitation of Uttarakhand Government should also be made available to the Directorate of Census. Secretary Census Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Secretary Sushil Kumar, Additional Secretary HC Semwal and other officials were present in the meeting.
