Pithoragarh to host national level rafting competition from Nov 7

A national level river rafting and kayaking competition of police and paramilitary forces is taking place at Jauljibi, the confluence of the Kali and Gori rivers flowing between India Nepal, from November 7. ITBP will cooperate in this competition.

According to the information received from DIG APS Nimbadia of ITBP, the participants police personnel and paramilitary forces, will participate in this competition being organized at the initiative of the state government. The purpose of organizing this competition is to promote adventure tourism. Apart from other paramilitary forces including ITBP, BSF, SSB, Uttarakhand Police will also participate. National level teams of paramilitary forces are participating in it. ITBP’s team from Auli is going to participate in this competition. River rafting and kayaking of this level will open the doors of adventure tourism in the region for the first time in Jauljibi.

So far, KMVN conducts river rafting here at the Jauljibi fair. River rafting has also been done twice in the past by army and paramilitary forces. The fair in India and Nepal also starts in Jauljibi from 14 November. River rafting competition is expected to increase the liveliness of the fair.
