5 killed in car accident in Pauri
In a tragic mishap, five persons were killed as the car they were travelling in fell in a 200 metre deep gorge at Pauri district on Monday morning. After a two-hour operation the police team with the help of locals could take out the bodies from the valley.
According to the police, four statehood agitators – Indra Dutt Sharma, Satpal Singh, Mahipal Singh Rana and Mohan Singh Bisht on Monday morning left Rishikesh in a car to meet the officers of Yameshkar block for some work. On the way, the four met constable Narendra Kumar, who took lift in their car.
“Near Ganeshpuri area on the Rishikesh-Yamkeshwar route, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it fell in a gorge. Getting the news, police team rushed to the spot and launched the search operation with the help of locals. Unfortunately, none of the persons seated in the car could survive,” said SP Pauri Mukhtar Mohsin.
