Muncipality demands Rs 11 lakh to clean up Auli

After the royal wedding of the sons of the South African industrialist of Indian origin, the cleansing of the Auli after the royal wedding of the sons of the business magnets, has become Achilles heel for the municipality of Joshimath. This is the reason why the municipality has demanded 11 lakh rupees from the Wedding Management Company, E Factor Entertainment Pvt Ltd, in lieu of cleaning Auli. During the wedding ceremony, the Municipality gave estimate of the expenditure for cleaning the hill town as 8.14 lakhs. But this amount has to be increased due to the increase in the work.

On 20th and 22th of June, in Auli, the wedding of two sons of the Gupta brothers was organized. For this, responsibility was handed over to the Wedding Management Company, E Factor Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The company had to make arrangements for sewerage and waste disposal suitable to environmental regulations. For this Nainital High Court also issued a guideline. In spite of this, a large amount of garbage was spread, the sewerage also started flowing in the open. As a result, the municipality had to work hard in cleaning Auli,  in which the previous estimate of 8.14 lakh proved to be less. Municipal Commissioner Shailendra Singh Panwar said that due to the increase in the work, the company is now being sent for revised estimation. The municipality has spent more than Rs 11 lakh on cleanliness. However, the organizers have paid only 5.54 lakhs till now.

326 Quintal Waste from Auli

Municipal Commissioner Shailendra Singh Panwar said that during the royal marriage, municipality Joshimath had given NOC to the Gupta brothers on the basis of the conditions for disposal of the waste in Auli. Now the cleaning work of the ceremony sites has been completed. While cleanliness is being done outside in the field of ropeway and chair lift. He said that with the arrangement of the royal wedding, 326 quintals of garbage was collected in Auli, which has been disposed off. On the other hand, SDM Vaibhav Gupta told that after the directions of the High Court, the administration team was deployed to monitor the wedding ceremony in Auli. So that there was no violation of environmental standards.

Amount of fines imposed

During the royal wedding of the sons of the Gupta brothers, a penalty of Rs 2.84 lakh was imposed on the event management company, Hotel Cliff Top Club Hotel and others on the waste spread in Auli. This amount has been deposited in the Municipality’s account.
