Uttarakhand Rajya Sabha election to be held in Gairsain

After the first time in the convening of budget session in Gairsain, another major decision has now been taken. For the first time, Gairsain will be the polling center for Uttarakhand Rajya Sabha election. It has been approved by the Election Commission of India. Given the presence of MLAs in Gairsain, due to budget session, the Election Commission has given its consent to make Gairsain the polling center.

There is an election for a seat of Rajya Sabha on Friday 23rd March in the state. The Election Commission had earlier given recognition to the Vidhan Sabha, Dehradun, as a polling station. But in the meantime, the budget session is going on in the state from March 20. Because of which the MLAs will remain in Gairsain instead of Dehradun on March 23. In such a situation, the Assembly was recommended to replace the polling station with the Election Commission of India. Which the Indian Election Commission has approved. State’s Chief Electoral Officer, Mrs. Soujanya, confirmed the developments so far. Therefore, the Commission has agreed to make Gairsain the polling station in place of polling station, Dehradun. However, the Vidhan Sabha has not agreed to change the ARO on the part of the Assembly and the date of voting will be done on March 24 or 25 instead of 23.
