Case against 60 unidentified individuals recorded for protesting Srinagar Hydro project

Highway blocked for 11 hours in Srinagar to protest hydro power project

In the matter of blocking the road for 11 hours on behalf of the affected families of Srinagar hydroelectric power project, the police have registered a case for affecting road traffic and movement of the general public. In the case of the police, 60 unknown women and men, including the convenor of Himalayan Bachao Manch, Sameer Raturi, have been named as accused.
The movement against Srinagar hydroelectric project on behalf of affected people is going on in Kirtinagar for the from last August. On Friday, the police had taken Doulat Kunwar, who was sitting on fast for 38 days, and admitted to the hospital.

The agitators against the police action had sat on the Kirtinagar-Bidiagarh motor road near the Kirtinagar Motor Bridge, after which the police had to divert traffic. The agitators were sitting in the road from seven in the morning to six in the evening, which led to the police registering a case against the protesters for affecting the movement.

Kotwal Chandan Singh Chauhan told that a case has been registered in the Section 147/149/341/186 IPC against 60 women and men including Sameer Rautri, after jamming Kirtinagar-Bidiagarh Motor route for 11 hours. Sameer Rathodi said that the police-administration has conspired to implicate the agitators. A false case is being resorted to crushing the movement and threatening women, when no traffic on the agitating road had been interrupted and no shopkeeper and traveler faced trouble. In such a case, lodging cases is oppressing justice. At the same time, Vimla Devi (48) of Dhari village has been sitting on hunger strike after Daulat Kunwar was taken to the hospital by the police. On the same day, the fast of Saraswati Devi continued on the 12th day.
