Locust attack: Agriculture department becomes vigilant in Haridwar

In Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, the Chief Development Officer has formed a team of officers in view of the locust threat. This team is running awareness programs to protect farmers from the threat of locust. The team is formed under the leadership of the Chief Agricultural Officer.

These days the farmers of Haridwar are facing the threat of locust attack. Because in the districts of Saharanpur, adjoining Haridwar district, an alert is going on regarding the locust swarm. Due to this, Haridwar CDO  has formed a team of officers.

Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Vikesh Yadav, Assistant Sugarcane Commissioner Shailendra Singh, Dr. Purushottam in charge of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dhanori and District Horticulture Officer Dr. Narendra Yadav have been included.

The team these days is conducting awareness campaigns to rescue farmers from locust teams. In this, farmers are being made aware through paintings etc. in the village. Pamphlets are also being distributed there.

Farmers have also been asked to remain alert. A disaster relief team will be formed to prevent locust attack in the state. Orders in this regard have already been issued on behalf of Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary, Agriculture and Horticulture.
