Haridwar Hanuman Janmotsav stone pelting incident: Police arrest 6

In Dada Jalalpur village of Bhagwanpur area of ​​Haridwar district, the matter of ruckus in the procession of Hanuman Janmotsav went on till around 1.30 am on Sunday. At the same time, the police have also detained nine people in the case. The DGP has given instructions to intensify patrolling at sensitive places in all the districts.

According to media reports police have arrested six people in connection with stone pelting on the procession being taken out on Hanuman Janmotsav on Saturday night in Dada Jalalpur. A case has been registered against 12 named and 40 unknown in the matter. There is tension in the village due to the ruckus. In view of this, forces have been deployed in the village. Along with this, SP countryside and CO have camped in the village.

SO PD Bhatt said that a case has been registered against 12 named and 40 unknowns in the ruckus. Six people have also been arrested.

It was reported that in Dada Jalalpur village of Bhagwanpur area, people of a community pelted stones from the roofs on the procession being taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav. This caused a stampede in the procession. More than a dozen people were injured in stone pelting. As soon as the information was received, people from nearby villages also gathered at the spot. This created communal tension between the people.

The police who reached the spot to handdle the situation. Police called for an ambulance and sent the injured to the hospital. People of some organizations also reached the village. The police were trying to control the agitated crowd. In view of the tension, PAC has been deployed with heavy police force.

According to the police, a procession was being taken out to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman. As soon as the procession reached Dada Jalalpur village from Dada Patti at around eight o’clock, stone pelting started from the roof of a house. After this stone pelting started from the second and third houses as well. This led to screams and stampede on the spot. The people involved in the procession, saving themselves, gathered on one side and informed the police and others.
