Token system to be implemented at Kedarnath this year

Devotees coming to Kedarnath this yatra season will not have to wait barefoot in the cold for hours to have darshan of Lord Bholenath. The system of tokens is being implemented by the administration for darshan.

Apart from this, there will also be a new initiative to reduce plastic waste at travel stops. Under this, devotees will have to deposit empty plastic bottles with the shopkeeper. This was stated by District Magistrate Manuj Goyal in a meeting of public representatives, pilgrimage priests, officers and local residents convened at Guptkashi Inter College for the systematic operation of Kedarnath Yatra.

Token system implemented to keep tab on number of devotees

He said that token system is being implemented so that there is no rush of devotees for darshan in the temple premises. Cooperation has been expected from all the shopkeepers for proper disposal of plastic bottles for drinks including drinking water during the journey. Under this, all types of plastic bottles will be tagged by the shopkeepers.
