Heavy tourist inflow causes traffic woes in Haridwar, Rishikesh

On weekends, the citizens of Rishikesh and the surrounding area had a heavy Sunday due to traffic jams. The temperature reached 40 degree Celsius during the day. Meanwhile, the local people were troubled due to the jam. The journey between Rishikesh to Haridwar is 30 minutes, which was completed in one and a half hours in these conditions.

Tourists from the nearby state started arriving in large numbersĀ  inĀ  on Saturday itself to get relief from the heat in Rishikesh, Munikireti, Tapovan, Lakshman Jhula, Garuda Chatti, Phool Chatti, Mohan Chatti and the surrounding areas. On Sunday, the influx of tourists in large numbers from Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh started from the morning itself.

On Sunday, roads from Raiwala flyover to Rishikesh and beyond Natraj Chowk, Bhadrakali, Tapovan were all packed with tourist vehicles. In these circumstances, even riding two wheelers on these roads by the local citizens was no less than a challenge. In addition to the vehicles of tourists who came from outside on Sunday, the vehicles of tourists who arrived here on Saturday were also were stuck in jam.

At the same time, in Haridwar too, the traffic system came was under stress on Sunday. Long car queues were seen on both sides of the road. For the first three consecutive days, due to Ganga Dussehra and today being a weekend, the huge crowd of passengers blocked the entire highway.
