Urban Development Minister inaugurates first polythene waste bank in Dehradun

Polythene waste bank was inaugurated yesterday in the cantonment area of Dehradun. Urban Development Minister Premchand Aggarwal inaugurated it in Dehradun. This is the first bank which will clean plastic waste from homes and roads.

A new beginning has been made regarding disposal of plastic waste through Polythene Waste Bank. This initiative has been taken by Cantonment Board Dehradun in the cantonment area. In view of the problem of plastic waste, the Cantonment Board has started a plastic waste bank. During this time, the Cantonment Board also organized a polythene and e-waste collection competition among the Resident Welfare Association. So that people can be made aware about plastic waste, during this time the organization which got first, second and third place in the competition was also rewarded by the Urban Development Minister. On the same lines, it has been decided to start operation of polythene waste bank in Premnagar area of Dehradun as well.

During this, Urban Development Minister Premchand Aggarwal said that polythene waste will be purchased in the collection centers at the rate of ₹ 3 per kg. He told that common people can send polythene waste to the polythene waste bank. This will also be paid through the bank.

A target has been set to purchase at least 70 to 100 tonnes of polythene waste every month through this bank. Through this, many things made from plastic waste will be recycled and will then be sold in the market.
