Haridwar stadium being developed to meet national standards

The only stadium located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand is being developed as a national level ground. After this, national and international level cricket matches can be organized here also. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to provide good fields to the young talents of the state. In this sequence, Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority has started developing Bhalla Stadium as a national level cricket ground.

Vice Chairman of Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority, Anshul Singh said that in view of the 60 meter boundary required for a national level cricket ground, the boundary of Bhalla Stadium is being increased from 50 meters to 65 meters. Anshul Singh himself has been a player of the Under-19 team. He told that three cricket pitches of international standards are being built in the stadium being developed in Haridwar. For this, a special type of soil has been procured from Alwar, Rajasthan.

Singh said that pavilions, dressing rooms, rest rooms etc. are also being prepared for the players. At the same time, good quality arrangements are being made for media coverage like media centre, commentary box, cafeteria, parking and seating for spectators.

He expressed hope that in the next three months the ground will be completely ready to organize national level cricket matches, which will help the young players of the state to hone their talent. Singh said that till now matches could be played in this ground only during the day but now floodlights are being installed for day and night matches.
