Hail and Snow bring down temperature in Uttarakhand
In Pithoragarh headquarter, snowfall in Munsiyari have once again reduced the temperature. Hail fell in high altitude areas including headquarters on Monday evening. Here, in Munsiyari, rain started snowfall in lower Himalayan areas and low-lying areas. Snowfall occurred in the Munsiyari market in the evening. Once again the temperature has dropped due to snowfall. Munsiyari recorded minimum temperature of -2 degree Celsius.
On Monday in Champawat district headquarter, the hailstorm increased the coolness in the weather. Hail has caused damage to crops. On Monday, Champawat’s minimum temperature was recorded at three and maximum 17 degree Celsius. On the other hand, there was heavy hail on Monday in the valley of Bageshwar district. It has increased in the cold, vegetables have suffered a lot. There was strong hail in the afternoon of Kapkot, Mikhila Khalpatta, Tarsal, Patiyasar, Jhuni and Khaljhuni.
More than 50 villages of Munsiyari have been without power for 30 hours
Over 50 villages of Munsiyari area are forced to spend the night in the dark for the last 30 hours. Due to lack of electricity, the villagers are facing difficulties. This affects the population of about 20 thousand people in the area. Due to snowfall and rain two days ago, power was lost in most of Munsiyari. 30 hours have passed, but the system has not yet been restored. There is resentment among the people here. People say that Board examinations are close which can have adverse effect on children’s education due to lack of electricity.
The Meteorological Department has issued rain alert in most areas of Uttarakhand in the next 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, there is possibility of hail in seven districts including heavy rains and Udham Singh Nagar in Nainital district in the next two days. Dr. Bikram Singh, Director of the State Meteorological Center located in Dehradun, has issued heavy rain warning in different districts of Uttarakhand on the night of 26th February with hail. They have also issued warnings of administration in mountainous areas to be vigilant. On Monday, the city recorded maximum temperature of 22.7 degree Celsius and minimum temperature was 7.9 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees below normal.
Snowfall in Kedarnath and Auli
On Monday, there was snow in Kedarnath throughout the day. One feet of fresh snow fell there. Here, the other hills also received snowfall. Whereas in the lower areas there was rain in the after noon. Along with this, the snowfall in Auli and Joshimath also increased cold. Due to the changes in the weather, on Monday, snowfall occured in Kedarnath and many other high hills including Madhmeshwar, Tungnath. While there have been rains in many places of the district including the headquarters. Cold conditions have increased in Kedarnath after snowfall.
