Dehradun: Missing Son of BSNL employee found

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Police Department successfully rescued the kidnapped son of a BSNL employee.

Nab the culprits with 48 hours

The police teams comprising of Dehradun Police, STF and Haridwar Police rescued the class 12 student from Haridwar. Two days ago Harshit Tayal son of Girish Tayal was reported missing from his home in Dehradun. According to the report harshit who resides in Engineers Enclave area of Dehradun had gone to recharge his mobile. When he didn’t returned until late evening concerned family members were left with no other option but to file a missing report. The police then started a man hunt for the missing boy. The police was able to recover Harshit’s scooty and one of Harshit’s slippers.

Kidnappers demanded a ransom of rupees 5 crore

The Kidnapper’s used the boy’s cellphone to call his father and demanded 5 crore rupees as a ransom. The police swung into action and traced out the call to Haridwar region. The Haridwar police also started a search operation from their end. In the meantime the family agreed to pay Rs 2 crore as ransom. The kidnapper called the father again to tell him the details about the pickup point. The police stayed one step ahead of the criminals as it had tapped the cellphones of the boy’s family members. When the kidnappers went to collect their ransom the police which was already present on the spot caught them red handed.

Use of Social Media to plan out the crime

Primary reports suggest that the boy had met the female (who is being considered the master mind) through social networking site Facebook. On Saturday evening when Harshit was returning from the mobile recharge shop a girl came upto him asking for directions to a coaching institute. No sooner had the two moved from their spot than a Santro car came out of nowhere and dragged in the 17 year old. They took the boy to Haridwar after which they made the call to his father demanding ransom. It has also been learnt that the kidnappers initially had plans to kidnap someone else.
For its speedy actions the boy’s family has decided to reward the team with 1 lakh rupees. Chief Minister Harish Rawat too congratulated the team and announced a cash reward prize of rupees 1 lakh as well.
