2900 roadways employees to go on strike from December 27

Due to not increasing the honorarium, 2900 special category Roadways employees (outsourced / contract) have announced strike from Deceber 27. An employee strike will start from midnight on Wednesday. Strike of these workers associated with bus operations could stall bus services to more than 50%.

Although on Tuesday the roadways officers tried to persuade the staff but negotiations failed due to lack of consensus on increasing honorarium. Minister of Roadways Staff Union Ashok Chaudhary  said that all special category employees will start work boycott from 12 o’clock midnight on December 27.

The employees demanded to increase honorarium of all special category employees at the rate of 50 paise per kilometer. Currently, honorarium is being given from 1.55 to 2.50 rupees. Managing director, Brijesh Kumar Sant asked the staff to wait a week, but the staff refused. General Manager Deepak Jain said that the management is thinking positively on all demands including honorarium. But it will be difficult to make immediate decisions. Employees returned when the negotiation lasted for about two hours.
