Basant Utsav 2020: Flower exhibition at Rajbhavan on 14 & 15 March

The floral display to be held on Uttarakhand Raj Bhavan (Governor House) on Basantotsav will be on 14 and 15 March this time. This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Governor Baby Rani Maurya on Monday. The exhibition will be open to the public for two days.

In order to give more time to the common people in the floral exhibition, the Governor has kept the inauguration time at 9 am this time. The public will be able to come to Raj Bhavan from 11 am. Earlier the performance was kept for general public for about one and a half days. It was decided in the meeting that this time also postal cover will be released on any specific plant / flower species of Uttarakhand. About two lakh people are expected to come to the exhibition.

The Governor said that this exhibition should be beneficial in terms of food processing and handicrafts as well as flower growers. The facility of visitors to view the exhibition should be taken care of. Keeping in mind the ban of single use plastic, the Governor directed to set up stalls of cloth bags.

All stall departments should display products and activities that directly benefit the people. Instructions were also made to arrange for live demonstration related to disaster management and self-defense for school children.

These flowers will be the center of attraction

This year, floral displays like Gerbera, Carnation, Gladiolus, Agapanthus, Orchid, Marigold, Lily, Chrysanthemums, Tulip etc. will be on display. Cut flowers, potted plants, loose flowers, hanging pots, on-spot photography, fresh petal rangoli, painting competition for school children, etc. are prominent in the competition category.
