‘Black fungus’ cases reported in Dehradun

Mucormycosis aka ‘Black fungus’ has also made its presence felt in Dehradun. So far, four cases of black fungus have been reported in Doon. Three of which have been confirmed. Three cases have appeared in a private hospital. At the same time, a case has come up in a government hospital. However, it has not been confirmed yet.

Black fungus has been confirmed in a patient admitted to Max Hospital in the capital. While two other patients have already been discharged from hospital. As per Medical Superintendent of the hospital, this disease has been seen with more diseases. It would be difficult to say that this has been seen for the first time in the state, but it has been seen in some patients who have been treated for Covid who reported to the hospital.

Similarly, a suspected patient of black fungus has been admitted to a government hospital. After some time the official statement will be issued by the hospital administration, after which the name of the hospital and the actual status of the patient would be informed.

The expert committee constituted in the state will decide the line of treatment keeping in mind the guidelines and other points of the Center and the ICMR in the context of black fungus. Guidelines for the treatment of patients in hospitals will be issued based on the report of the committee. Those who have been cured and have sugar problem, then they should keep a check on it as they are at a risk. Caution is the biggest way to prevent this disease.
