Dehradun inches closer to being amongst India’s top 50 cleanest cities

The dream of the hope of a clean city, which was seen by the residents of Doon, seems to be coming true to a large extent. The reason for this is the real reason for the public to be aware of cleanliness.

Along with this, the continuous improvement in the working style of Dehradun Municipal Corporation has also become a factor in the cleanliness of Doon city. Dehradun has now started moving up on the scale of cleanliness.

This is proved by the figures released by the central government on the clean cities of the country on Saturday. In the Cleanliness Survey-2022, Dehradun secured the 69th position with a jump of 13 points. Last year, Doon was at number 82. Dehradun topped among all the municipal corporations in the state.

Goal to be in first 50 cities next time

Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama gave the credit to the corporation employees and the residents of the city. The Mayor said that the city of Doon has made a lot of improvement in terms of cleanliness in the last four years. Continuing with this improvement, the goal will be to be among the first 50 cities next time.

After the release of the results of the cleanliness survey, Mayor Gama said that Dehradun has got the first place among all the municipal corporations of the state and its performance was better than the national and state average. According to the mayor, Doon city had secured 316th rank in the year 2017, 257th in the year 2018 and 384th in the year 2019. In the year-20, the central government made many other changes in the survey along with the total number of cities.

Despite this, in the year 2020, Doon ranked 124th, while in the year 2021, the city got 82nd place by joining the list of top 100 cities. Significantly improved door-to-door garbage collection including cleanliness of city roads and drains, aiming to be among the top 50 cities next year.
