Traders protest against anti-encroachment drive on Dehradun-Mussoorie route
Local traders protested near Kolhukhet against the anti-encroachment drive. Due to this there was a long queue of vehicles stuck enroute. SDM Sadar Naresh Chandra Durgapal reached the spot and discussed with the people to open the jam, but people did not agree. People demanded to stop the removal of encroachment campaign.
On Saturday, the SDM, who reached the spot on the information of the jam by the local people in Mussoorie Kolhukhet, had to face the protest of the people. Raising slogans against the administration, the protesters said that small traders were facing troubles due to this anti-encroachment drive.
On the Mussoorie-Dehradun road, the administration’s bulldozers ran on illegally built restaurants, dhabas, rooms and hotels under construction. On Friday, two teams of the administration demolished encroachments at 30 places. Although the local people also opposed it, but the officials did not stop.
Under the leadership of SDM Sadar Naresh Chandra Durgapal, MDDA, Forest Department and Public Works Department officials carried out encroachment removal campaign. Under which the administration team demolished illegally constructed dhabas, lodging areas at 14 places.
Apart from this, two hotels were also being constructed illegally in this area. These too were demolished by the administration team.
