Dehradun records more than 60 percent above normal rainfall in April

The weather in the capital Dehradun in January and February this year was unusually high and it rained only nominally. From March onwards till April the weather became pleasant. The capital Doon recorded 87 mm of rainfall in April. This is the highest rainfall in April in the capital since 1997. Earlier in the year 2020, 86.3 mm of rainfall was recorded.

The state received about 30 percent more rainfall than normal in March. Whereas, in April it recorded 62 percent more rainfall than normal. In this entire season, from March 1 to April 30, the state has received 36 percent more rainfall than normal. As against the normal 94 mm, 128 mm of rainfall was recorded in the state during the season. This time Udham Singh Nagar district received the maximum rainfall and Haridwar received the least.

Relief from heat due to rain, mercury dropped by 5 degrees

In the capital Dehradun, the weather changed many times on Sunday and in the afternoon, heavy rain brought relief from the heat in the plains. Due to rain, the minimum temperature of the city also dropped by 5 degrees. At the same time, continuous rain fell on Monday.

In Mussoorie, the queen of mountains, the cold increased due to the rains on Sunday. The city’s temperature dropped to around 10 degrees. Despite the rain, a large number of tourists reached the city. Due to which the hotels of the city also remained buzzing.

However, due to digging in the Kuldi Bazar area of Mall Road, the tourists also faced problems.
