City bus, auto fares get hiked

In the State Transport Authority (STA) meeting, it was decided to increase the fare of city buses by ten percent. The new seven slabs have been created, eliminating all the old 16 slabs of city buses. Under this, for the journey of the first two kilometers passengers will now have to pay Rs 10 instead of seven. Whereas the fare for traveling over 29 kilometers will be 40 rupees. STA met at Transport Headquarters on Friday and discussed 19 proposals along with fare revision. During this period, discussion on the fare slab of buses plying in the municipal area was discussed. It found that there are currently 16 slabs by distance which are becoming complex. It was decided unanimously that these slabs be reduced to seven. The fare rate should also be fixed in the same proportion.

Transport Commissioner Shailesh Bagoli, Additional Commissioner Sunita Singh, Secretary SK Singh, DGM Roadways Mukesh Singh among others were present in the meeting.

Auto rickshaw fares also increased

Auto rickshaw fares will be increased by 25%. The auto rickshaw fare was fixed at Rs 23 for one kilometer and then Rs 10 for every kilometer thereafter. After the amendment, the fare for the first two kilometers was fixed at Rs 50, while for every kilometer thereafter, Rs 15 would have to be paid. From 10 to 5 in the night, now 50 percent more rent will have to be paid. Earlier it was 25 percent.

Taxi-maxi cab

The STA has also revised the fare for the taxi-maxi cab category. From now on, the fare of these vehicles will be decided on the basis of their price rather than passenger capacity. Four categories are created based on the price of a car-taxi. The first is the general category, in which vehicles ranging from one to six lakh rupees have been kept. In the second deluxe category, the price of the vehicle will be six to 12 lakh rupees, third luxury category will be 12 to 20 lakh and in the fourth super luxury category, the price of the vehicle will be 20 lakh rupees or more. In this, the fare of an ordinary taxi will be Rs 14 while the fare of an AC cab will be Rs 16 per km for plains. In the hilly areas, this fare will be Rs 16 and 18 respectively for the hills. In the deluxe category, the fare of ordinary and AC car will be Rs 17 and 20 per km. On the mountain route, this fare will be 20 and 23 rupees respectively. In the luxury category, the fare will be 22 in the plains and Rs 25 in the mountains. The fare of the super luxury cabs will have to be paid at the rate of Rs 35 per kilometer on the plains and Rs 40 per kilometer on the hilly route.

Tempo Fare

The fare for the first tempo was nine rupees per kilometer. It has been increased to Rs 40 for the first two kilometers. After that 17 rupees have to be paid for every kilometer.

Relief to e-rickshaw

The STA rejected the proposal to set a fare limit for e-rickshaws. Currently the fare rate for e-rickshaws is not fixed. STA members said that the routes of e-rickshaws are also not fixed and only economically weaker people are using them as employment. A proposal to amend the rental bike scheme and the rates for freight vehicles has also been deferred.

New fare arrangement on Chardham Yatra route

STA has created a new class for buses plying on Chardham Yatra. In this, the fare has been fixed on the basis of seat capacity and convenience of the bus. Waiting charges are also kept daily in these buses. According to this, the fare of a 20-seat bus will be 55 rupees per kilometer. In the 21 to 30 seater category, the normal bus fare will be Rs 50, deluxe 60 rupees and AC 70 rupees per kilometer. The fare of ordinary, deluxe and AC bus in the 31 to 45 seater category will be 60, 65 and 75 rupees per kilometer respectively. Waiting fees for these buses have also been fixed. Daily waiting fee of 21 to 30 seater ordinary, deluxe and super deluxe bus will be 35 hundred, five thousand and 55 hundred rupees respectively. For 31 to 45 seater bus, this fee will be five thousand, six thousand and seven thousand rupees respectively.
