Vasantotsav 2024 to be held on these dates
The dates for Vasantotsav 2024- the annual flower show at Governor House, Dehradun have been announced.
Vasanthotsav, organized every year at Raj Bhavan, Dehradun, will be organized from 01 to 03 March this year. In a meeting held under the chairmanship of Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, he said that Vasantotsav 2024 should be organized as a festival with full enthusiasm and enthusiasm in which participation of maximum people is ensured. He said that instead of making this event a government event, private partnership should be encouraged and the general public should get involved in this event. The Governor gave instructions for proper publicity of this event. He said that efforts should be made to take the celebration of Vasantotsav from local to global.
The Governor said that horticulture should be promoted in Uttarakhand through Vasantotsav. He said that it is necessary to link the flower exhibition with commercial activities. The flowers here need marketing not only in the state but across the country. The Governor said that this event should be established as a platform for the farmers and producers involved in commercial cultivation of floriculture, herbs, aromatic plants and other organic products from far-flung areas of the state.
The Governor directed that food courts should be set up during Vasantotsav 2024 with the help of IHM and GMVN as well as women self-help groups of the state, in which priority should be given to our traditional coarse grain millet. He said that through Vasantotsav 2024, special Honey production will be encouraged. The Governor said that there should be maximum participation of women in the stalls based on floriculture and agricultural activities and they should be given preference for setting up the stalls.
Officials informed in the meeting that competitions have been organized in 15 different categories in the flower exhibition. In the event, attractive band performance will be played by ITBP, IMA, PAC, Scouts and Guides, Home Guards.
Folk artists will also present a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of the state through courtesy of the Culture Department. Demonstrations related to yoga and martial arts will also be organized during this period.
Events at Vasantotsav 2024
For the first time, hydroponic farming technology demonstration has also been included in the annual flower show. For which three prizes will be given. Whereas competitions will also be organized related to roof top gardening, bonsai gardening, terrarium and honey processing. Flower exhibitions and competitions of various government gardens including commercial and private flower growers, flower based rangoli competitions will also be organized. A photo exhibition based on beauty of flowers and nature will also be organized in spring festival. Many competitions of different categories are proposed for the flower exhibition at Vasantotsav 2024, in which along with all the competitions like cut flower, potted plant arrangement, loose flower arrangement, hanging pots, ‘on the spot photography’ will also be organized.
