Uttarakhand: MeT department says expect more rains

Dehradun: Torrential rainfall have once again wrecked havoc in the hill state of Uttarakhand. TheĀ  heavy rainfall from the heavens has disrupted normal life in all 13 districts of the state. While Nainital region bore the brunt of the rains last week, this time it was the turn of Dehradun and Haridwar as water logged streets were a common sight in both the cities. A fresh 36 hour weather alert has been sounded in the state by the Uttarakhand Meteorological department.

Ganga Flowing close to the danger mark

The district administration of Haridwar has sounded an alert in the catchment and flood-prone areas of the Ganga as the water level in the river today reached the danger level mark.

99 roads have been closed in the state adding to the woes of the locals and tourists alike. The Kedarnath Yatra has been suspended and all the pilgrims have been taken to safe places.
