New double lane tunnel on Dehradun-Musoorie road could end traffic woes

A good news is coming for the people of Mussoorie, the queen of mountains. In the first week of December, the foundation stone for the construction of about 4.5 km long Dehradun Mussoorie Road Double Lane Tunnel to be built in Mussoorie at a cost of Rs 837 crore could be laid. Sainik Welfare and Industries Minister Ganesh Joshi met Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Wednesday and requested him to lay the foundation stone. Gadkari has assured them on this. With the construction of about 4.5 km long tunnel in Mussoorie at a cost of Rs 837 crore, tourism will also develop in the state along with Mussoorie.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured that the foundation stone of the tunnel will be laid in December. He has also given instructions to the officials regarding making preparations for this. The total length of the tunnel and connecting road will be 9.6 km. Efforts were being made in the state for the last several years to build the Mussoorie Tunnel. Finally, now Union Minister Nitin Gadkari gave in-principle consent for the construction of the tunnel. With the construction of tunnel in Mussoorie city, people will get rid of the heavy traffic jams that they face every day. There is a huge problem of traffic jam in Mussoorie during the tourist season. There are long queues of vehicles on the roads. The biggest problem in Mussoorie is traffic jam. With the construction of the tunnel, people living in Mussoorie and tourists will get rid of the jam.

The construction of this tunnel will be about one km ahead of the junction of the road leading to Hathipaon. From here the tunnel will come out directly near Mussoorie International School. With this, people will not need to enter LBS Academy and other jam-packed areas. Vehicles going to Dhanaulti will also be able to move out of the city without getting stuck in the jam. Overall, this Dehradun Mussoorie Road Double Lane Tunnel is a big gift of the Center to Uttarakhand. After the construction of this tunnel, the problem of jam in Mussoorie will be solved. Sainik Welfare and Industries Minister Ganesh Joshi said that local people, tourists from the country and abroad and people visiting Tehri-Uttarkashi districts will also benefit greatly from the construction of the tunnel.
