Champawat By-elections: 16.09 percent voter turnout till 9 a.m

Voting is going on for the by-elections in Champawat assembly of Uttarakhand. By 11 o’clock the percentage has gone up to 33.91. While 16.09 per cent polling was recorded till 9 am. A total of 96213 voters are exercising their franchise in the assembly constituency. At the same time, the virtual dialogue of PM Modi with the beneficiaries of central schemes is going on. The program is going live in many places in Kumaon. CM Dhami, Union Minister of State for Defense and Tourism Ajay Bhatt and others have arrived to attend the program at GB Pant University.

Congress’s candidate Nirmala Gahatodi, SP supported Manoj Kumar alias Lalit Mohan Bhatt and independent candidate Himanshu Gadkoti are all contesting for the Champawat assembly seat. Today, PM Modi will have virtual dialogue with the beneficiaries of various schemes including PM Awas Yojana, PM Svanidhi, Kisan Samman Nidhi, Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission. The program has been organized at MPBPG College, Haldwani. Ramnagar MLA Diwan Singh Bisht will attend the event as the chief guest.

16.09 per cent voter turnout till 9:00 am

The voting percentage has doubled in the first two hours in the by-elections as compared to the last assembly elections. To avoid the heat in the afternoon, people are voting more in the morning. Due to which the voting percentage has increased. In the hilly region too, good voting numbers are seen in many booths. In the assembly elections held in February, around 8 per cent polling was recorded in the first two hours.

In Champawat constituency, 14 booths have been declared very sensitive regarding the by-election. While 18 booths have been kept in the sensitive category. The administration has reviewed the booths in order to conduct the elections smoothly and peacefully. Adequate security arrangements will be made in these booths during elections.
